Well hello lovely people!
I have been meaning to get back into blogging for quite a long time now but life always seems to get in the way. For those of you who don't know my name is Katy, I am 27 and I currently live in Warrington, North-West England (although I spent most my life in Manchester and it is still very much my home!). Many moons again in 2010 Pixiecraft then known as the cringe-worthy Miss Pixie Crafts began as a small blog that I created to track my progress and adventures as I taught myself to sew. By 2011 I had lost interest in machine sewing but I had discovered hand embroidery. I was gifted a sublime stitching book by a friend and from that I discovered the delight that is a craft you can do from the comfort of your sofa with no noisy sewing machines drowning out whatever series I was currently binge-watching!
I have only ever made a handful of items from a pattern as I quickly figured out that embroidery could give me the freedom to draw my own designs. I have never been very good at following instructions and when I started embroidery I could barley even thread a needle but I persisted and here we are. Today Pixiecraft is my full time job, it pays the bills and puts food on the table. That is truly one of my greatest achievements. To be able to use my hands to not only create something beautiful which brings joy to others but to also use that to support my family is something I feel very blessed to be able to do.

When I am not stitching (and lets face it I am a workaholic so that is pretty rare!) I am running around after my two wonderful little girls. We home educate and so they are here with me and a huge part of my business and inspiration. Our days can be a little crazy and chaotic but they are filled with plenty of love and adventures.
I have lots of exciting new plans for Pixiecraft this year including an AMAZING market night where I will be collaborating with some incredibly talented makers to bring you a whole host of super special stitches. There will be new workshops, hopefully a couple more kits and plenty of new designs as always.
